Mary Ellen Flaningam, 85, Shrewsbury, Mo., and formerly of Darlington, died Sunday in Des Peres Hospital, Des Peres, Mo. Mrs. Flaningam worked as a social worker for the county government. She was a Bowers High School and Ball State University graduate. Her memberships included Potato Creek Methodist Church and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was born June 23, 1919, at Darlington, to Thomas and Hallie Fisher Turnipseed. A daughter, Martha Ellen Flaningam, St. Louis, survives. Funeral services are scheduled 11 a.m. Saturday in Burkhart Funeral Home, 300 S. Grant Ave., with the Rev. Ron Hatley officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Darlington. Friends may call 3-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
